NewBridge will honor Carolyn Beauchamp, longtime president and CEO of the Mental Health Association in New Jersey, at the NewBridge Legacy of Hope Gala on May 9.
NewBridge Services is proud to honor Carolyn Beauchamp, longtime President and CEO of the Mental Health Association in New Jersey, for a lifetime of providing leadership in the field of public mental health. She will receive NewBridge’s Helping People Move Forward Award at the 2019 Legacy of Hope Gala on May 9 at The Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains.
As head of the Mental Health Association in New Jersey for more than 30 years, Ms. Beauchamp has developed programs that empower people with mental illness and created a strong statewide consumer voice that affects policy decisions at the highest levels. Ms. Beauchamp has marshaled diverse groups, including corporations, the education community and government agencies, to reduce stigma and increase access to mental health treatment.
Early in her career, Ms. Beauchamp was NewBridge’s director of community outreach. She helped Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital patients transition to the outside world. Beauchamp created a program to teach boarding house owners social work basics to better understand residents with mental illness. She also helped NewBridge create New Jersey’s first long-term community residence for older adults hospitalized five years or more.
