Three Community Advocates To Be Honored At NewBridge Celebration

Thursday, January 26, 2012

PEQUANNOCK, NJ – January 26, 2012 – NewBridge Services Inc., a nonprofit community provider of behavioral health and education programs and services, will honor Laurie Becker of the Morris County Department of Human Services, TD Bank, and Yvonne Zuidema of the United Way of Passaic County with the NewBridge 2012 Helping People Move Forward award. The trio will receive their awards during NewBridge’s Celebrate The Magic of NewBridge, on March 29, 2012 at The Villa at Mountain Lakes.

“These advocates are committed to strengthening communities by helping those most in need,” said Robert L. Parker, chief executive officer of NewBridge, a nonprofit community provider of behavioral health and educational programs and services. “They, like NewBridge, are helping people find balance in their lives.”

Becker is mental health administrator and director of the division of behavioral health and youth services at the Morris County Department of Human Services. She ensures clients get the services they need and she developed the county’s mental health disaster response plan.

TD Bank, one of the 10 largest banks in the U.S., is committed to philanthropy and links its donations to the issues that customers, employees and community organizations care most about. In 2010, The TD Charitable Foundation donated more than $12 million.

Since Yvonne Zuidema became CEO/President of the United Way of Passaic County since 2001, the organization has developed programs that meet community needs and have measurable outcomes. An example is the Financial Empowerment Zone, which provides free tax services to Passaic County residents.

The annual fundraiser includes hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, a dessert buffet, and silent auction. Admission is $135 per person. For support opportunities or reservations, contact Nina McCormack, NewBridge’s chief development and marketing officer, at 973-839-2521, ext. 2246, or visit
