Community Response and Education Specialist

Position Title: Community Response & Education Specialist

Responsible To: Director of Community Response & Education

Hours: Part-time temporary, 20 hours per week, with possible transition to permanent position. 

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education or related counseling field; required, working towards Masters preferred. Knowledge and experience in substance abuse and counseling. Strong interest in working with adolescent’s in group settings.


  • Facilitate structured group activities for adolescent with themes centered around drug and alcohol issues, current events, socialization, self-esteem, peer pressure, etc.
  • Plan curriculum and activities for weekly After School Programs; facilitate and participate in program with teens.
  • Secure all supplies needed for assigned programs.
  • Provide pre- and post-tests to all participants for outcomes studies.
  • Work with Community Response and school-based programs to manage annual expenses.
  • Facilitate parenting skills and support groups as needed.
  • Participate in other community-based prevention programs as assigned and according to scheduled and budgeted time.
  • Improve job knowledge through regular supervisory meetings, attendance at relevant outside workshops, ongoing certification activities and other professional development activities.
  • Participate on agency-wide committees as needed
