COVID-19 Update/Mental Health Month Message from NewBridge CEO

Wednesday, May 20, 2020

Mental Health Month 2020 is more important than ever!Dear friend,

As we enter our third month of social distancing restrictions, I wanted to check in with an COVID-19 update and news on the latest happenings at NewBridge Services.

May is Mental Health Month. Especially during the pandemic, it’s crucial that we pay attention to how we’re feeling. We can all learn techniques that calm us and build resiliency. And there is no shame in seeking professional help when we need it.

Even before the COVID-19 crisis hit, one in five adults in the U.S. experienced mental illness in a given year, and the rate was 1 in 6 for children, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Here’s our COVID-19 update:

At NewBridge, we’ve been adding to our repository of advice and information to help people cope. This month’s mental health articles include tips for parents of children and teens and another for the growing senior population. We also have instructions on how to do a variety of meditative practices. Please take advantage of all of it by clicking here.

Our licensed clinicians continue to provide telehealth counseling sessions, which have been well-received. Our group home residents are doing well, as are clients who live in the community but require support services. NewBridge staff is checking on them and seniors, ensuring they have food and their medication.

We’re so grateful to all the people who are helping NewBridge help others. From the financial donations to the masks, groceries, meals and supplies, you are keeping our communities strong! Your generosity of spirit feeds my hope.

Please take care of yourselves, especially as the state begins opening.

Sincerely,
