Local Business Makes Holiday Party Sparkle for NewBridge Services

Wednesday, December 07, 2011

MORRIS TOWNSHIP – December 7, 2011 – Financial planner Richard Brownstein turned his company’s holiday party for clients and employees into a gift for NewBridge Services, Inc.

While The Blues Brothers band front man rocked the Madison Hotel atrium on Dec. 4, Brownstein’s 120 guests arrived bearing canned foods to donate to the local nonprofit. They then raised more than $600 through a silent auction.

“I chose NewBridge because of their work with seniors,” said Brownstein, who owns Financial Health Center, a wealth management company in Fairfield. “I see the challenges that seniors face and my heart goes out to them. NewBridge is there to step in and help,” added Brownstein, who lives in Sparta.

This year alone, NewBridge connected more than 450 seniors with services and resources so they could remain in their homes. In addition to helping seniors, NewBridge runs programs to empower youth, builds and manages affordable housing and treats mental illness and substance abuse.

“We are honored that Mr. Brownstein recognizes NewBridge’s contribution to keeping our seniors – and our communities – strong,” NewBridge CEO Robert L. Parker said. Brownstein served two years on NewBridge’s fundraising board.

Brownstein created the Financial Health Center more than 10 years ago to guide families in being good stewards of their wealth, using their resources to create a legacy for themselves and society.

In Brownstein’s first career as a music recording engineer, he helped The Rolling Stones and Kool and the Gang earn gold and platinum albums. He became friends with Johnny Rosch, now lead singer of The Blues Brothers band, who along with other talented musicians entertained Brownstein’s guests.

“Everyone had fun, and NewBridge is stronger for it,” Parker said.
