NewBridge Staffer Wins Award for Outstanding Client Care

Monday, June 03, 2013

PEQUANNOCK, NJ – April 29, 2013  – Carolyn Dean, NewBridge Services’ assistant director of housing services, received the 2013 Outstanding Care/Case Manager Award from the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies for her compassion and skills.

“Carolyn Dean is devoted to her clients, working tirelessly to get them every service available to help them achieve wellness and live their best,’’ said NJAMHAA Chief Executive Officer Debra Wentz. “She has improved countless lived with the work she does very day.’’

“I am always amazed by what people are capable of handling with the right support,’’ said Dean, who was honored April 24 at NJAMHAA’s annual Courage & Compassion Awards reception at the Pines Manor in Edison. By helping clients reconnect to the community, “they can rediscover their meaning and more fully contribute to society,’’ she said.

Hired in 1999 as a residential case manager, Dean became a residential clinician after earning her master’s degree in clinical and counseling psychology at Columbia University’s Teacher’s College. She was promoted to coordinator of supportive housing in 2006, supervising service delivery for clients living in apartments and supportive housing. She became assistant housing director in 2007, the year she helped open a group home in Boonton.

The married Haledon resident, who grew up in Ridgewood, has earned a reputation as an in-the-trench leader and trouble-shooter who tackles problems before they become crises, never hesitating to roll up her sleeves to get a job done.

“Carolyn oversaw the integration of the existing supportive housing and apartment programs into a team that moves as if they were a single super-case manager, a well-oiled machine always making sure consumers are supported and moving forward in their recovery,’’ said Jack Muzikowski, director of residence services at NewBridge.
